Why January Rules

It's the time of year again for the best tournament in North American professional sports. Yep, I'm talking about the NFL playoffs. One day in, and we've had two amazing games already. In terms of my picks, I went 1 for 2, but I take solace in the fact that I was glued to my seat for both games yesterday. For anyone who watched, you'll understand why I'll never name one of my sons "Nate".

Anyway, this is football at its finest. One game, and you're in or you're out. They're games of desperation passes, tide-turning penalties, and eternal 4th quarters. I love it. Dare I say, even more than the NHL playoffs. But anyway, I digress.

My Super Bowl match-up for this year? Indianapolis vs. Green Bay. As my buddy Thrasher said, it'd be the veritable "passing of the torch". But I think Green Bay will pull it off. The adversity Brett Favre has faced this year (and in his life, in general) is movie-worthy. Capping off a hall-of-fame career with a SB win would just be the righteous denouement.

I realize I said at the start of the season Philly would take the big dance, but unfortunately, they don't really have a chance with T.O. hurt. It really sucks, I know. But curses are curses, and like our beloved Maple Leafs here in Toronto, the whole city of Philadelpia is a destined loser. I still hope they prove me wrong. But it's still gonna be exciting to see what kind of tricks McNabb has up his sleeve with the best WR in the league out of commission.

So strap yourselves in, kids. It's already a wild ride.

can't say I've ever really enjoyed watching american football (my flatemates will kill me if i refer to it as just 'football') but it's definetly better than five day long cricket tests, good god I thought baseball was boring.
